Presence works only when a member has opted in and Homie can recognize that member's trusted phone.

Use this when Homie thinks someone is home incorrectly, arrival promises are not firing, or a member wants to pause presence for privacy.

This is a practical page. It focuses on the controls a normal household member needs, not on how Homie is built.

Start from the member's personal settings or the household member presence card. Connect the phone while it is at home, then pause or resume presence as needed.

- Open personal Homie on the member's phone.

- Open Settings and check Presence.

- If the phone is not connected, use Connect this device while the phone is on the home network.

- Pause presence when the member does not want Homie to use home or away state.

- Resume presence only after the phone has a saved home signal.

- Use resend link from household settings if the member needs a fresh connection link.

Use these controls when you want to correct Homie, reduce noise, or make the home match how the household actually works.

- Whether presence is enabled for the member.

- Which phone is used for presence.

- Whether the member is temporarily paused.

- Whether a fresh presence link should be sent.

Homie should stay honest about what changed. If an action needs a trusted device, a claimed member, or an approval, it should say so before pretending the work is done.

- It will not resume presence for a phone that has never been connected.

- It will not use presence as exact location history.

- It will not make private decisions from presence when the member is unknown.

- It will not fire arrival or departure promises when presence is paused.

Presence is a household convenience signal, not a full map of a person's day. It should answer home-like questions, not expose everywhere someone goes.

Members should be able to pause presence without losing their entire profile.

After making an operational change, do one small check. It is the easiest way to catch a wrong member, wrong device, stale link, or missing permission while the context is still fresh.

- Check the presence card after connecting or pausing.

- Ask Homie whether it sees you as home from your own phone.

- If the answer is stale, reconnect the phone while you are on the home network.

Check the surface you are using. A dashboard, personal phone, email flow, and voice reply can all show different parts of Homie by design.

- Reconnect after replacing a phone.

- Pause presence before testing away-from-home flows.

- Use member names when asking presence questions.

Most Homie issues come from setup, identity, or approval state. Work through these checks before assuming Homie ignored the request.

- Check whether the question belongs on the shared dashboard, personal mobile, mail, or voice.

- Verify the required permission, account, or microphone setting is enabled.

- Use personal mobile for private member content and the shared screen for household content.

Good to know: Most operational changes take effect right away on the home system, but connected accounts and devices may need a refresh or reconnect.

- Reconnect after replacing a phone.

- Pause presence before testing away-from-home flows.

- Use member names when asking presence questions.

- Pause my presence.

- Resume my presence.

- Is anyone home right now?
