Homie's soul changes tone and behavior guidance. It does not add permissions, actions, accounts, or memory access.

Use the product path below before trying to solve this from chat alone.

Menu labels are written as they appear in Homie.

  1. 1

Open Settings -> Personality or Soul.

  2. 2

Edit the custom soul text only for tone and behavior guidance.

  3. 3

Use Memory or Skills instead when the change is really about facts, accounts, or product access.

The soul describes Homie's identity, principles, behavior, communication style, constraints, and visual persona.

It asks Homie to be clear, calm, useful, honest, and careful with action. Think of it as house style for how Homie speaks and behaves, not a setup screen.

Homie can use the household's custom soul text when one has been saved. If there is no custom version, it uses the default Homie character.

The soul does not grant more permissions or data access. It changes tone and behavior guidance, not privacy boundaries.

If Homie cannot use a private memory, send a message, or access a skill, changing the soul will not make that possible. Use settings, account setup, or approvals for real access changes.

A saved custom soul should change future conversations. Clearing the custom text returns Homie to the default character.

The soul is prompt context, not memory. It should not be used to store secrets, passwords, or private records.

Use memory for durable household preferences and use personal mobile for private member context. The soul should stay broad: how Homie should behave, not confidential facts Homie should protect.

Start by checking the practical setup question: which device is this, which person owns it, and which skill or account is actually connected.

  1. 1

Keep soul edits short and behavioral.

  2. 2

Use memory for durable preferences about the household.

  3. 3

Use settings for actual product configuration.

Most Homie issues come from setup, identity, or approval state. Work through these checks before assuming Homie ignored the request.

  • Check whether the device is trusted, claimed, and named correctly.
  • Open the relevant settings or Skills card and confirm setup is complete.
  • Try the same request with the exact device, member, room, account, or skill name.

Good to know: A saved soul change should affect later conversations without adding new product access.

  • Keep soul edits short and behavioral.
  • Use memory for durable preferences about the household.
  • Use settings for actual product configuration.
  • Make your tone a little calmer.
  • What is your current soul?
  • Go back to the default soul.
