Getting started with Homie
Start with one useful household job, then add people, devices, and connections only when they are needed.
Do not try to set up everything at once. Pick one daily problem, such as the morning brief, a lookout, or a shared device, and make that work first.
Use the product path below before trying to solve this from chat alone.
Menu labels are written as they appear in Homie.
- 1
Open Homie -> setup flow if this is a new home.
- 2
For an existing home, open Settings -> Household -> Members to add people first.
- 3
Then open Skills to connect only the skills the household will actually use.
Add the people who share the daily load before you connect optional smart home tools.
Then identify the surfaces: shared dashboard, claimed personal phones, and any fixed mic or screen nodes.
Begin with the morning brief or a single lookout. Homie becomes useful faster when it has one clear job.
After a few days, add household memory or connected accounts for recurring details you actually use.
Homie will not know private calendars, mail, devices, or smart home tools until the household connects them.
If a feature is missing setup, Homie should say what is missing instead of acting like it is done.
