Privacy Policy

Version 1.0 · Last updated 16 May 2026

Homie is a private AI household assistant. Most household data stays on your own device or in encrypted EU infrastructure. This policy explains what we collect, where it lives, why we process it, and your GDPR rights.

1. Who we are

Homie is operated by Jonas and Stefan, based in Stockholm, Sweden. We are the data controller for the personal data described here.

For privacy questions or rights requests, contact us through the contact form on heyhomie.tech.

2. What this policy covers

This policy applies when you visit heyhomie.tech, welcome.hihomie.app, use Homie, join a household, or connect services through our hosted authentication flow.

It does not replace the terms or privacy policies of third-party services you choose to connect, such as Google, Spotify, Twilio, OpenAI, Anthropic, or Home Assistant.

3. What we process

Depending on the features you enable, Homie may process household members, calendars, messages, voice transcripts, assistant conversations, tasks, reminders, local memories, smart-home events, and content you create.

The service also processes limited account, invite, and authentication data so household members can sign up and so your household can securely connect to Homie.

4. Where data lives

Homie is designed so household memory and personal data stay private. Home Base stores data on your own Mac or server. Cloud hosting uses private, encrypted EU infrastructure.

A small amount of authentication data may pass through Cloudflare Workers and KV, such as household identifiers, invite claims, short-lived OAuth handoff tokens, and member signup settings.

5. Why we process data

We process data to provide the service you asked for: household briefs, memory, lookouts, authentication, onboarding, and support.

Our legal bases are performance of a contract, legitimate interest in operating the service securely, consent where required, and compliance with legal obligations.

6. Retention

Local data remains under your control until you delete it. Short-lived Cloudflare handoff records are deleted after pickup or expiry. Household authentication records are kept while the household is active.

If you ask us to delete hosted records we control, we will do so unless we have a legal reason to retain them.

7. Your rights

Under the GDPR you can request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, portability, and withdrawal of consent.

Because much of Homie's data is held locally by your household, many controls are available directly in your installation. For hosted records, contact us and we will respond within 30 days.

8. Third-party processors

Homie may connect to Cloudflare, Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, Spotify, Twilio, weather services, and other services you explicitly enable.

Transfers outside the EEA use appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses where required.

9. Children, security, and changes

Homie is for households and may include children when configured by an adult household member. We do not knowingly collect children's data without parental involvement.

We use authenticated connections, short-lived tokens, and encryption where appropriate. No system is perfectly secure. Material policy changes will be reflected by the updated date on this page.
